    GPS is a new program initiated in the fall of 2009 by the University of Alabama’s Graduate School that aims to serve graduate students who have children. GPS works in conjunction with the new Undergraduate Parent Support program launched in the fall of 2009 by UA’s Student Services.

Parking and Transportation

  • Crimson Ride
    The UA shuttle service is designed to provide the university community with safe, reliable transportation.
  • Tuscaloosa Transit
    In partnership with Crimson Ride, Tuscaloosa Transit has a route from the Downtown Intermodal Facility (601 23rd Ave.) to the UA campus and back. UA students, faculty and staff can park free of charge at the downtown IMF and can ride the route free of charge with a UA Action Card. This bus will run a complete route each half hour, starting at 5 am until 6 pm Monday through Friday throughout the year (except on holidays).

  • Zimride
    Zimride is a fun and easy way to share the seats in your car or catch a ride. With Zimride, you can find UA friends, classmates, and coworkers going the same way you are. Zimride offers ridesharing for UA students and staff.
  • Zipcar
    Zipcar offers car sharing for UA students and staff. The beauty of the Zipcar community is that we're all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Members use Zipcar as an alternative to the costs and hassles of owning or renting a car. It's also more flexible than public transportation.
